On April 23, the Katy Police Department opened a new substation inside Katy Mills mall by Restoration Hardware at 5000 Katy Mills Circle, Ste. 659, Katy. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was coupled with the annual Katy-Area Safety Fest, where attendees could interact with emergency responders, watch safety demonstrations and learn about emergency services and equipment, such as ladder trucks, ambulances, and helicopter landing and take-off. 281-391-4848. www.cityofkaty.com/government/city-departments/police-department
