It’s BBQ cookoff time in Katy’s Cane Island! The Katy community of new homes will host its second annual BBQ Cookoff, March 12th -13th, as amateur cooking teams compete in Cane Quarter, 2100 Cane Island Parkway, for cash prizes and trophies in categories of brisket, fajitas, ribs and chicken.
Open to the public, the cookoff fun kicks off with a Friday Night Fajita Cookoff starting at 6 pm with teams competing for $750 in cash prizes. Open to the pubic, crowds also will enjoy live music from Just Cos, cornhole and an axe-throwing competition.
On Saturday starting at noon, the competition heats up as amateur teams vie for the top spots in brisket, ribs and chicken. Live music from the Earl Sanders Band, Katie Katy and Hayden Baker, an inflatable bull, petting zoo, obstacle course bounce house and sweet food trucks are certain to add to the festive atmosphere.
Saturday cookoff tickets are $12 for adults, which include a BBQ sampling, wine tasting, a vote for Best Brisket and raffle ticket for the chance to win $250 cash, a new television, gift cards to restaurants and Andretti Indoor Karting and Games. Onsite parking is free.
