During tonight’s monthly Katy ISD board meeting, the Board of Trustees unanimously approved Dr. Sanée Bell as the new Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning. Dr. Bell previously served as the Executive Director for Secondary Teaching and Learning. She has more than 22 years of educational experience, most of which was spent as part of the Katy ISD family.
Dr. Bell began her career in 2000 as an eighth-grade Language Arts teacher in Louisville, Kentucky. Two years later, she moved to Texas and joined the Katy High School Tigers as an English teacher and basketball coach. In 2005, Dr. Bell was promoted to Assistant Principal at West Memorial Junior High and then transferred to WoodCreek Junior High in 2008 to serve the Timberwolves in the same capacity. One of Dr. Bell’s aspirations was to lead a campus, and her professional goal became a reality in 2011 when she was named the principal of Cimarron Elementary. During her five-year tenure at Cimarron, Dr. Bell was recognized as the 2015 Katy ISD Elementary Principal of the Year. In 2016, she became the principal of Morton Ranch Junior High until she was named the Executive Director of Secondary Teaching and Learning in 2021.
“Katy ISD has always held a special place in my heart. To serve such a thriving and diverse school district is an honor that I cherish dearly,” said Dr. Sanée Bell. “In this new role, I, along with the other team members that compose the Teaching and Learning Division, will focus on ensuring that the more than 90,000 students we support are engaging in learning experiences that prepare them for their future,” added Dr. Bell.
Dr. Bell holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Allied Language Arts from Western Kentucky University, as well as a Master of Science in Educational Management and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Houston – Clear Lake.
